Triple world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik heads into Saturday’s Wölk FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Teterow on a huge high after winning the opening round of the Polish Championship Final in Rzeszow on Thursday.

Zmarzlik triumphed in the final ahead of world No.3 Maciej Janowski in second, former Speedway GP star Piotr Pawlicki in third and FIM Gorzow Speedway GP wild card Szymon Wozniak in fourth place.

The Lublin and Lejonen man topped the heat score chart on 13 points to secure automatic final qualification alongside Pawlicki, who scored 11 in the heats adding one more championship point for third place in the final.

Janowski won the semi-final ahead of Wozniak in second, with former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel missing out on a final spot in third and Speedway GP star Patryk Dudek fourth.

Zmarzlik leaves the Rzeszow round with 17 championship points, claiming 13 in the heats, three for winning the final and a bonus point for recording the most heat wins.

Janowski is second overall on 13, with Pawlicki third on 12, Wozniak and Dudek tied on 11 and Hampel chasing on 10.

Former FIM Torun Speedway GP wild card Kacper Woryna notched nine, with FIM SGP2 champion Mateusz Cierniak collecting eight.
