WELSH TWO-WHEELED HEROES JOIN FORCES WITH SPEEDWAY GP FOR CARDIFF EVENT
22/08/2023
The FIM Speedway Grand Prix stars will not be the only heroes on two wheels at the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff on September 2 as Blood Bikes Wales ride into the fanzone as the event’s nominated charity.
Blood Bikes Wales volunteers provide a completely free courier service for the National Health Service, relying solely on volunteers and public donations and working around the clock to make crucial deliveries, including vital blood supplies and samples, plasma, donor milk for specialist baby units and essential medication between Wales’ various hospitals.
Blood Bikes will be based at the Speedway GP fanzone on Cardiff’s City Hall Lawn from 10am, close to the always-popular Monster Energy Rig, rider autograph sessions, entertainment for kids and so much more.
The team will have their own bike on display as well as a children’s version for family fun and photos. The Blood Bikes Wales team then head over to Principality Stadium as a night of nail-biting racing starts at 5pm, featuring 16 of the world’s best riders, competing on 500cc machines with absolutely no brakes.
The charity estimates that with every pound donated to Blood Bikes Wales, the NHS saves £5, which can be invested into frontline care. In 2021, the team was presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services and, having been hit hard by the pressures of the pandemic, the charity is bouncing back.
FIM Speedway championships director Laura Manciet added: “It is an absolute pleasure to team up with Blood Bikes Wales and celebrate their great work at the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff.
“Many people ride and race motorcycles because it’s something they love to do and the fact that the Blood Bikes Wales team is taking this so much further in providing vital services for the NHS is fantastic to see.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone from Blood Bikes Wales to Cardiff on September 2 and hope they have a fantastic event with us.”
