Nine FIM Speedway Grand Prix riders will open their Polish season in the PGE International Individual Ekstraliga Championship (PGE IMME) in Torun on April 1.

Poland’s equivalent of Britain’s old SGB Premiership Riders Championship comes just a week before the PGE Ekstraliga season launches on April 8 and features triple world champion and three-time event winner Bartosz Zmarzlik.

He is joined by Speedway GP rivals Leon Madsen, Maciej Janowski, Fredrik Lindgren, Robert Lambert, Patryk Dudek, Martin Vaculik, Mikkel Michelsen and Anders Thomsen.

Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen – second in the PGE Ekstraliga average charts last season – makes his competitive comeback after his 2022 season was ended by a badly broken hip and pelvis last June.

Former world champion Chris Holder, four-time Polish champion Janusz Kolodziej, 2021 FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Jakub Miskowiak, former Speedway GP finalist Dominik Kubera and last year’s FIM Torun Speedway GP wild card Kacper Woryna also race. The stellar field will be completed by a wild card.

The standby list is also star-studded, featuring 2017 world champion Jason Doyle, triple world champion Tai Woffinden and former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel.
