HOLDER: PETERBOROUGH DEAL OFFHOLDER: PETERBOROUGH DEAL OFF

Former world champion Chris Holder has taken to social media to reveal his return to British speedway with Peterborough has fallen through.

Holder last raced in the UK for the King’s Lynn Stars in 2017, but the Poole legend was being widely tipped to make a comeback with Peterborough in the SGB Premiership.

The Leszno and Vastervik man’s plans to resume racing in the nation where he started his European career appear to be on hold after the Sydneysider uploaded a frustrated post to Instagram, announcing the move was off.

Posting an image of his Panthers race suit design, Holder wrote: “Well this is as close as I got to racing for @peterboroughpanthers in 2023 …

“Long story short, was all good to go until last week. No responses to messages, then finally someone had the balls to call me. Deal was off … a month away from the GB season. Great bit of business. Anyway, here’s a look at the new suits they are running.”

It is unclear why the Holder deal did not go through and the club is yet to comment on the rider’s post. As things stand, Holder’s only other option to race in the UK would be to sign for Ipswich, who still have two vacant spots in their side. Champions Belle Vue, King’s Lynn, Sheffield, Wolverhampton and newly-promoted club Leicester have all completed their teams.
