Triple world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik raced to 12 points for Lejonen as they took a big stride towards the Bauhaus Elitserien play-off semi-finals with 47-43 win away to Indianerna in the quarter final, first leg on Tuesday.

The Lions delivered a rock-solid team display, with Zmarzlik leading the way, winning three of his five outings, with world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel also taking three victories on his way to 11 points.

Polish star Dominik Kubera collected eight paid 10 points, with SGP2 champion Mateusz Cierniak scoring six.

Former world champion Jason Doyle bagged 12 paid 13 points for the Indians, while triple Australian champion Max Fricke tallied 10. Speedway GP 2024 qualifier Szymon Wozniak scored six paid seven.

Elsewhere, Swedish star Antonio Lindback racked up 14 paid 16 points for Rospiggarna as they won their quarter final opener 50-40 at home to Piraterna.

The Rio Rocket put the Hallstavik side in pole position to reach the last four, with Polish young gun Wiktor Przyjemski racing to 11 paid 12 and American racer Luke Becker adding 10 paid 12. Speedway GP star Kim Nilsson notched nine points.

Former Speedway GP star Przemyslaw Pawlicki led the Pirates scoring 11 paid 13, with his compatriot Oskar Fajfer notching nine paid 11. Piotr Pawlicki and Vaclav Milik scored seven paid eight apiece.
