Double Danish champion Anders Thomsen raced to 10 points on his Bauhaus Elitserien comeback for Vastervik as they triumphed 56-34 at home to Indianerna on Tuesday.

With Swedish star Fredrik Lindgren and Denmark’s Mikkel Michelsen both unavailable for the match, Thomsen was drafted into the Vastervik squad by club boss Morgan Andersson.

He will also race for the coastal club when they visit Indianerna for the return fixture on Wednesday night. Andersson confirmed: “We have searched the market as we face a very good team in the form of the Indians. We have managed to find a solution with Anders who will help us during the next week. He has represented Västervik before and has also had Kumla as his home track.

“If nothing unforeseen happens, we will write Mikkel back in the squad next week as he will be more available for future matches.

“We also want to take the opportunity to thank Anders for all the work he has done to successfully complete these competitions. A warm welcome!”

Gleb Chugunov topped the Vastervik scoring with 11 points, while Denmark’s Mads Hansen scored nine paid 13 and triple world champion Tai Woffinden notched nine paid 12. Holmgrens Bil FIM Swedish Speedway GP wild card Jacob Thorssell scored six.

Aussie icon Jason Doyle carried the visitors, scoring a sensational 16 paid 17 points, with Max Fricke adding five.

The day’s other meeting between Piraterna and Rospiggarna was postponed due to rain, but the clubs will meet in Hallstavik on Wednesday. Alongside the Indianerna and Vastervik clash in Kumla, Malilla club Dackarna hosts Lejonen.
