EKSTRALIGA | THOMSEN & VACULIK SNATCH DRAW FOR GORZOW

Speedway GP duo Anders Thomsen and Martin Vaculik raced to a last-heat 5-1 to snatch Gorzow a 45-45 draw away to Czestochowa in the PGE Ekstraliga on Friday.

Following the departure of triple world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, Thomsen and Vaculik were the riders Gorzow looked to in their effort to fill the Polish icon’s giant shoes.

And they delivered a massive maximum when it mattered most, trapping terrifically to see off Lions’ world No.2 Leon Madsen and Mikkel Michelsen in heat 15 and snatch a share of the league points.

After two second places, Thomsen reeled off four straight race wins to end the night on 16, while Vaculik picked up 10 paid 13 points and former Polish champion Szymon Wozniak added eight.

Madsen topped the Czestochowa score chart on 12 points, with both Michelsen and former FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Maksym Drabik tallying 10 points each.

The day’s other match between champions Lublin and newly promoted Krosno was postponed due to an unfit track.
