Danish racer Leon Madsen raced to 11 points as Czestochowa guaranteed second place in the pre-play-off PGE Ekstraliga table with a 50-40 win at Leszno on Friday.

The Lions delivered a solid team display to see off the Bulls at Alfred Smoczyk Stadium, with Madsen on top form ahead of the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff on August 13.

He was backed up by a 10-point haul from Kacper Woryna, with Freddie Lindgren notching nine.

World Under-21 champion Jakub Miskowiak added eight paid 11, with SGP2 rival Mateusz Swidnicki racing to six paid seven as they get ready for the FIM SGP2 of Great Britain at Principality Stadium on Sunday, August 14.

Polish ace Janusz Kolodziej starred for Leszno on 12, with French rider David Bellego and Poland’s Piotr Pawlicki adding eight paid nine each. Speedway GP star Jason Doyle scored seven paid eight.

Leszno finish sixth in the table and face table-topping Lublin in the play-off quarter finals, with Czestochowa due to meet 2021 champions Wroclaw, who will finish fifth unless they take all three points with a win at Torun on Sunday. A win for Wroclaw would see them face Gorzow, with Torun then handed a tie with Czestochowa.

Elsewhere, Ostrow ended their PGE Ekstraliga season without a league point after going down 47-43 at Grudziadz.

Former world champion Chris Holder raced to 12 paid 13 for Ostrow, with Swedish champion Oliver Berntzon and Jakub Krawczyk adding 12 points apiece.

But a 14-point haul from former Speedway GP rider Przemyslaw Pawlicki led Grudziadz to victory, with Frederik Jakobsen collecting 12 paid 14 and Krzysztof Kasprzak notching nine.

Grudziadz miss out on play-off qualification in seventh place, with Ostrow relegated to the First Division for 2023.
