DANISH STAR HANSEN UNDERGOES SURGERY IN POLAND

Danish racer Patrick Hansen was set for surgery on Saturday night after his Polish club Rybnik confirmed he suffered injuries in their First Division meeting in Ostrow on Saturday.

Hansen was taken to hospital after crashing with teammate Patryk Wojdylo in heat three of Rybnik’s 50-40 defeat.

In a statement on their official website on Saturday night, Rybnik confirmed the rider was due to undergo surgery.

The statement read: “At the moment, Patrick's operation is underway at the hospital in Kalisz. It will last about three hours. We will be able to say more about the surgery in the morning. 

“Right now, we know that Patrick has a spinal injury. The case is serious, but we keep our fingers crossed for his speedy recovery.”
