French racer David Bellego believes he is heading to “one of the best tracks in Sweden” after joining Bauhaus Elitserien champions Dackarna for 2024.

Bellego is the last rider to join the Malilla club for this year, teaming up with Speedway GP duo Dan Bewley and Andzejs Lebedevs, plus Danish racer Rasmus Jensen, Aussie stars Brady Kurtz and Ryan Douglas, Timo Lahti, Filip Hjelmland, Avon Van Dyck and Noel Wahlqvist.

Bellego, who will also compete for Tarnow in the Polish National Speedway League – formerly known as the Second Division – hopes his move to Malilla will boost his chances of chasing Speedway European Championship qualification this year.

He said: “I am very happy to represent the reigning Swedish champions. In my eyes, the Dackarna home track is one of the best tracks in Sweden. I have always enjoyed riding on the track in Målilla. I am looking forward to the season with a new club and hopefully fighting for the medals.

“My goal for 2024 is to re-qualify for SEC, having raced there for four seasons as a regular SEC rider. At the same time, I want to take as many points as possible for my club teams.”

Dackarna boss Mikael Teurnberg is backing Bellego and his 2024 squad to live up to their potential this season. He said: “David has all the conditions to blossom into a world-class rider. David is a rider that I have followed for several years, and he has a very high highest level.

“We have put together a balanced, good team with great development opportunities for all riders, and it will be especially interesting to follow our three new acquisitions Timo, Ryan and David, who all have high potential and great opportunities to send their averages rocketing in 2024.

“Dan, Brady, Andzejs and Rasmus are at their best age between 26 - 30 years and are constantly developing step by step. They will pick up lots of points for us during the season.

“Filip Hjelmland is facing a season that can become his big breakthrough year. After a successful season in 2023, it feels like Filip is now mature enough to take the next big step in his career.

“Youngsters Avon van Dyck and Noel Wahlqvist are on the way up in their careers and will now try to establish themselves seriously in the Bauhaus League in 2024.”
