Great Britain stars Adam Ellis and Tom Brennan are among the riders hoping to snatch the final spot at the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff as they line up at tonight’s British Championship Final in Manchester.

The winner joins triple world champion Tai Woffinden, Robert Lambert and Bewley at the iconic Principality Stadium on Saturday, August 13, receiving the coveted wild-card spot.

Bewley returns to the event seeking his first national senior title and, if he is crowned champion, the No.16 race jacket goes to whoever finishes second at the National Speedway Stadium.

Defending champion Ellis and GB SON2 skipper Brennan are in the running, along with former champions Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls, Charles Wright and Danny King.

Having lifted his first British title in 2021, Ellis is hungry to repeat the feat. He said: “It’s going to be a tough one but of course after winning it once, you know you can do it.

“Winning it last year does make me want to win it back-to-back but it also means there are guys who will want to take it away from me. It’s a big title that everyone wants but hopefully I can go there and get the job done again.”

British Under-21 champion Brennan already lines up in Cardiff as wild card for the FIM SGP2 of Great Britain on Sunday, August 14. But he is determined to do double duty that weekend and claim the Speedway GP wild card too.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to Monday. It’s a big opportunity for me and one I need to make the most of.  There are some pretty big hitters in the line-up and I’m keen to see how I stack up against them, but the main thing for me is to go out there and enjoy myself.”
