Poland laid down a marker ahead of this summer’s FIM Speedway of Nations by winning the FIM Europe Team Championship in Poznan on Sunday.

The hosts dominated the four-team tournament on 47 points with the team’s only non-Speedway GP rider Janusz Kolodziej blazing to a 15-point maximum and World Championship leader Bartosz Zmarzlik also starring on 14. Patryk Dudek racked up 11 points, with Maciej Janowski scoring seven.

Denmark held off a late fightback from Great Britain to beat the Lions to the silver medal by one point.

The Danes were spearheaded by seven points from national champion Anders Thomsen, while Patrick Hansen, Rasmus Jensen and Frederik Jakobsen all weighed in with six points each.

Warsaw runner-up Leon Madsen scored three points from two rides, but was unable to continue after reportedly being stung by a bee in the pits.

Speedway GP star Dan Bewley raced to 11 points for the Brits, with Robert Lambert tallying 10. Chris Harris collected four, with Adam Ellis scoring two.

The Swedes finished fourth on 18 points, with Freddie Lindgren leading their scorechart on eight. Former Speedway GP rider Oliver Berntzon and double Swedish champion Jacob Thorssell contributed four each, while Kim Nilsson picked up two.
