Great Britain star Robert Lambert believes his Polish side Torun has what it takes to lift the PGE Ekstraliga trophy after selecting a stellar 2022 side.

The FIM Speedway of Nations world champion joins forces with THREE of his FIM Speedway Grand Prix rivals at the Marian Rose Motoarena this season – world No.3 Emil Sayfutdinov, Polish racer Patryk Dudek and local hero Pawel Przedpelski. Speedway GP first reserve Jack Holder completes a star-studded top five.

Torun are being hotly tipped to challenge reigning champions Wroclaw for the PGE Ekstraliga crown, while Gorzow also track a powerful side.

Despite being relegated in 2019 and spending the 2020 season in Poland’s First Division, Torun could complete an astonishing turnaround and win their first championship since 2008. It would also be their first league crown since moving to their iconic Motoarena after three play-off final defeats since their last gold-medal season.

Lambert would love to play his part in ending Torun’s title wait. He said: “We have a strong side. Torun is a winning team and club, and this is what they really want. I think after the last few seasons, they have really put emphasis on what they want to achieve.

“As you can see from the team we have got, it is pretty self-explanatory that we want to get up there and pick up that trophy.

“That’s definitely something we can give back to the club and the city as well. I feel very closely connected with the city and passionate about it. It’s about time we picked up some silverware.

“I think we now have a great opportunity to push on and the first goal will be reaching the play-offs. And then from there, we start again and make sure our form is at its peak. I’m sure that if all of us have a good day, we can beat any team – it doesn’t matter who it is.”
