Ipswich favourite Danny King is keen to tick a title triumph with the Witches off his racing bucket list after signing up for 2023.

The former Great Britain star is set for what will be his 14th season at Foxhall in three separate spells since he first joined the Witches in 2003.

Having captained Poole to back-to-back SGB Championship league and cup doubles over the past two seasons, the 2016 British champion knows what it takes to win titles.

But he is yet to win a top-flight crown and would love to end that wait with the Witches – a club seeking its first league win since their iconic Elite League treble season in 1998, when Swedish icon Tony Rickardsson, Polish great Tomasz Gollob, current Witches boss Chris Louis and seven-time British champion Scott Nicholls led a team for the ages.

King is keen to write his own piece of Ipswich history. He told the club’s website: “I have been at Ipswich a long time. The one thing I am yet to do is win a league title and it is on my bucket list. It is something I will be pushing hard for again next year, as I do every year.

“It is always an easy decision for me to come to Ipswich. Everyone knows how I feel about the club. Even though this year didn’t quite go the way I wanted it to with machinery, I think people can see I am still giving 100 percent every time and my dedication to win for Ipswich has not changed at all.”

He is joined in the side by 2017 Speedway GP world champion Jason Doyle and Keynan Rew, an Aussie star making his UK debut in 2023. King is more than happy with the Witches side so far.

He said: “Jason speaks for himself; we have the best rider in the league so you can’t get off to a better start than that.

“I’m excited to see what Keynan can do. I have heard a lot about him. I’ve not met him, but I have heard good things and that he has some good pedigree behind him, so hopefully he can hit the ground running and be a big asset to the club.”
