Polish racer Dominik Kubera piled up 16 paid 17 points for PGE Ekstraliga leaders Lublin as they overcame Mikkel Michelsen’s absence to beat visitors Ostrow 51-39 on Friday.

Kubera dropped just one point to an opponent over six rides as the FIM Speedway of Nations contender stepped up his Polish selection hopes with a near-faultless display.

Lublin went into the match without their Speedway GP hero Michelsen, following his Danish Speedwayligaen crash at Vojens last Wednesday that has left him nursing a knee injury.

But former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel stepped up with 11 paid 12 points, while Maksym Drabik tallied 10 paid 13. SGP2 series leader Mateusz Cierniak scored seven as Lublin went seven points clear at the top of the table.

Former world champion Chris Holder was Ostrow’s star man once again on 12 paid 13 points, with Grzegorz Walasek notching nine.

Elsewhere, Polish racer Norbert Krakowiak powered to 17 points for Grudziadz as they claimed a 48-42 victory at home to Czestochowa. Frederik Jakobsen tallied 10 paid 12, while Krzysztof Kasprzak collected eight paid 10.

Kacper Woryna was Lions’ top performer on 12, while Speedway GP rider Leon Madsen registered 10. Freddie Lindgren scored four.
