Former world champion Chris Holder is tipping Vastervik for a Bauhaus Elitserien title challenge after switching to the coastal club for 2023.

The Aussie ace has completed a move from Indianerna and joins forces with the likes of triple world champion Tai Woffinden, Bartosz Smektala, Gleb Chugunov, David Bellego, Mads Hansen, Jacob Thorssell and Anton Karlsson in a strong squad.

Holder’s 2022 season ended after a heavy crash at the FIM GP Challenge in Glasgow on August 20, when he suffered multiple injuries.

But he can’t wait to return to action in the Bauhaus Elitserien with Vastervik. He told the club’s website: “I’m really looking forward to being part of Västervik in 2023, which has one of Sweden’s best racing tracks.

“Västervik is a very professional club with a solid winning mentality. The team next season is strong with many good riders, and I am very excited to be part of the squad.

“Everything is there to threaten for the title in the Bauhaus league and I am really looking forward to representing Västervik in 2023.”

Vastervik boss Morgan Andersson commented: “Bringing Chris into the team suits us very well and he has an excellent season behind him.

“Unfortunately, the season came to an abrupt end on August 20 when he was involved in an accident during the GP Challenge in Glasgow when he was about to secure a Grand Prix place for 2023.

“With Chris we get a team rider of high rank with a good personality and a lot of consistency. It’s also no disadvantage that he feels great at Hejla Arena.”
